Research has consistently identified that vocabulary plays a crucial role in the level of student achievement. Therefore, the Biology department has adopted the use of word roots (both prefixes and suffixes) that serve to help our students develop shortcuts in remembering and applying biological terms.
Students are quizzed each week on any 5 of the word roots specified. By the end of the first 9 weeks, it is expected that students are proficient in all 90 terms. These 90 terms are then weekly assessed for the remainder of the school year.
